ALL FOUR SPARTA RACE TEAMS REACH PODIUM! 

It was a fun, snaky Giant Slalom course set on Race Trail at Mountain Creek this past Wednesday and all four Sparta ski teams raced to a podium placement. With just two conference races remaining, our ski teams continue to stay the course and deliver victories.

GIRLS SKI TEAMS: The Varsity girls' ski team continues to climb the ladder. For the second race in a row, the Girls raced to a podium finish taking third place and moving up to a 7th place ranking in the state. This is a significant move in the right direction for the girls' team to qualify for States in just two weeks. Winning the race was Blair Academy with a team time of 4:25.79. Ridge placed second with a team time of 4:34.90 and Sparta placed third with a team time of 4.46.20. Sophomore Aubrey Zimmerman lead the girls' team with a combined time of 1:08.51 (5), followed by junior Madison Campisi at 1:11.22 (9), junior Julia Mooney at 1:12.22 (11), and senior Asst Captain Elizabeth Flint at 1:14.22 (15).  The girls picked up three wins and 2 losses.

All our racers on the girls' JV ski team delivered two clean runs. Freshman Maddie Gambino led the jv girls' team to the podium in 2nd place behind Ridge High School. Blair Academy took third.

BOYS SKI TEAMS:
The boys continue to ski strong and capture podium placement. It was a close race between the top three teams. Delbarton won the race with a team time of 4:09.63. Blair Academy raced to a second-place finish with a time of 4:18.95 and Sparta finished 3rd, just 1.51 seconds behind with a team time of 4:20.46. Junior Drew Young lead the boys' team with a combined time of 1:03.66 (5). immediately followed by sophomore David Baker at 1:04.08 (6), senior Asst Captain James Kressman at 1:06.30 (11), and junior George Flint at 1:06.42 (12).  The boys picked up four wins and 2 losses.

The JV boys team also raced to a third-place finish, led by freshman Jonathan Petelicki. Ridge took first place and Delbarton second.

NEXT RACE: Saturday, Feb 11 at 10 am at Blue Mountain in PA.
